Success Rates
The quality of the Selfhelpworks product can be found in independent research, the client list, testimonials, and Selfhelpworks’ commitment to validation by the medical and wellness community.

Research
Dr. Jerome Schwartz, Director of the Addiction Control Research Program, compiled statistics on several different intervention techniques. His study was accomplished without the support or knowledge of Selfhelpworks. His results are based on the percentage of patients who remained abstinent for more than one year after participating in the programs listed. Here are his findings:

Drugs
5 - 8%

Physicians
0 - 11%

Aversion
5 - 15%

Group
12 - 28%

Hypnosis
15 - 18%

Behavioral
10 - 43%

Selfhelpworks
63 - 82%

83% Success Rate
Another typical study consisted of 62 patients who were enrolled in the LivingFree Program for Smokers™ at St. Luke’s Lutheran Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Of the patients who attended all eight sessions, 83% were totally abstinent at the end of one year. Sixy-seven percent of the participants who attended at least one session were not smoking after one year. This paper was submitted to the American College of Chest Physicians by Dr. Michael Wooley, FCCP.

71% Success Rate
To test the internet delivery mechanism for the programs, a beta test was conducted with a sample of employees from a Fortune 500 company. This test group showed a total abstention rate of 71% at the seven-month mark.

70% Success Rate
We have conducted independent studies of nearly three thousand students. These demonstrate that if the participants are willing to start the program, they are about 70% likely to succeed. Success is defined by the percentage of participants who start the program that are able to maintain total abstention from the undesired behavior for at least one year. The Selfhelpworks programs generally proved to be 2 to 20 times as effective as other programs in the studies.
